Announcing my new book FAT CHANCE!

Hi folks,

My next book due for release is called FAT CHANCE, and will be out at the beginning of October.

Here's the cover, blurb and links to where you can pre-order it now!

Meet Zoe and Greg Milton, a married couple who have let themselves go a bit.

Zoe was a stunner in her college days, but the intervening decades have added five stone, and removed most of her self-esteem. Greg's rugby-playing days are well and truly behind him, thanks to countless pints of beer and chicken curry.

When Elise, a radio DJ and Zoe's best friend, tells them about a new competition, it seems like the perfect opportunity to turn their lives around. Fat Chance will pit six hefty couples against one another to see who can collectively lose the most weight and walk away with a £50,000 prize.

So begins six months of abject misery, tears, and frustration--that just might turn out to be the best thing that ever happened to them--in another laugh-out-loud look at the way we live now from bestselling author Nick Spalding.

Announcing my next book! BUZZING EASTER BUNNIES. Out Saturday March 29th. The sequel to Blue Christmas Balls. £1.59 on Amazon Kindle.

I'm delighted to announce that my next book is a novella called BUZZING EASTER BUNNIES, and is the sequel to my Amazon top 100 hit Blue Christmas Balls!

Here's the cover:

And here's the blurb:

Every story needs a decent climax...

There are plenty of things Christina Barclay would like to do before she hits thirty at Easter. Having an orgasm with somebody else in the room is most definitely one of them.

Up to now, her love life has been sorely lacking in the toe-curling department - but luckily for Christina, she's just started dating Matthew Adrian Bunion, a man whose bedroom inexperience is more than made up for by his never-ending enthusiasm. Mr Bunion will not rest until his new girlfriend is satisfied - no matter what the cost in rechargeable batteries, physical injury or public embarrassment.

From the best-selling author of BLUE CHRISTMAS BALLS and LOVE... FROM BOTH SIDES, this is the story of one woman and one man on an epic quest to come together, and celebrate an Easter birthday in style.

Dating isn’t easy these days. Just ask hapless singletons Jamie Newman and Laura McIntyre, two thirtyish Brits who are trying to remain positive in the face of all of the awkwardness, chaos, and humiliation that pave the road to finding love. Jamie, who’s still licking his wounds after his fiancĂ©e abandoned him, will try just about anything to find the girl of his dreams: from disastrous blind dates to the world’s worst speed-dating event. Laura, who is getting a little nervous with the big 3-0 looming, tries to put her awful-but-sexy ex in her rear view and move on, even if it means blind dates with spandex-clad bikers and drunken first-date hand jobs. When Jamie and Laura finally meet each other, love starts to blossom—but throw in some bad fajitas, obnoxious parents, and exes coming out of the woodwork, and things get complicated fast. A hilarious, relatable romp through the travails of modern love, this book will make you laugh until you cry.

Despite their respective job woes, things are good for Jamie and Laura Newman. After all, they’re madly in love, newly married, and having loads of hot sex; what could go wrong? Plenty. When Laura vomits on prospective employers during an important job interview, she discovers that it’s not the aftereffects of a hangover, but that she—much to her horror—is pregnant. The couple will need to a keep a sense of humor amidst the mood swings, awkward sex, bizarre pregnancy cravings (detergent anyone?), and weight gain that ensue. Add in a terrifying midwife, an overbearing mother-in-law, and the horror of a sober girls’ night out, and it’s a recipe for disaster—not to mention loads of laughs. And that’s before the baby arrives! Now if they can only keep from losing their newborn in the grocery store, they might make it out alive in this laugh-out-loud, raunchy, relatable comedy of everyday life as a new parent.

When Laura Newman is offered a senior position with an up-and-coming Australian chocolate company, she and her husband, Jamie, are in no place to turn it down. After all, Jamie has just left his newspaper job after an epic meltdown, and Laura is slowly dying in her job with a soulless corporate chocolatier. They know they’re in for an adventure when they pack up their daughter, Poppy, and move to Australia’s storied Gold Coast—and between the indecipherable Aussie vernacular, the incessant cheeriness of the locals, and a wide range of terrifying creatures, from spiders to crocodiles to koalas that grunt in the night, they definitely find one. Add in a bouncy blonde Aussie with her sights set on unemployed Jamie, along with the not-strictly-professional interest of Laura’s dashing boss, and the Newmans’ marriage could end up as fried as an Englishman in Surfers Paradise. It’s a rollicking fish-out-of-water tale with Down Under adventures and laughs by the truckload.

All change! - New covers for the Love... trilogy

Hi folks,

You may have noticed that the covers for the Love... books have changed recently, so I thought I'd write a blog post about why this has happened - just to keep you up to speed, in case you were wondering.

Simply put, while the original covers were nicely designed and 'did the job' so to speak, they also didn't really reflect the content of the books. They were what you might describe as typical 'chick lit' book covers: all pastel shades and arty images... which would be fine with another series, but if you've read the Love... trilogy you'll know that they aren't what you'd call standard chick lit material.

There are far too many references to bodily functions, for instance. Also, the word 'f**k' is used dozens of times, and there's even a few 'c**ts' thrown in for good measure. Also, somebody craps into a pedal bin in book one. I don't know about you, but when I picture the kind of thing you'd find in a chick lit book, that is definitely not one of them. Nor is spackling the face of Jesus Christ with semen, for that matter.

Good God, what the hell is wrong with me?

Anyway... given that the books are what you'd cheerfully describe as 'warts-and-all' in their approach to romantic comedy, we thought it was a good idea to change the covers to reflect that approach.

Hence the new versions, which are far less subtle and, er, chick-lity... but are a lot louder, bolder and brighter:

I like the change a lot, as do my publishers. Hope you like them too :)

The third book, Love... Under Different Skies, is released as a paperback on December 5th

You can buy the three novels at all online retailers, including Amazon and Apple iBooks, and in bookshops.
